Aperio Insights - Health Time Machine Support
America's 65+ population is steadily growing and expected to account for 20% of the total population soon. This demographic is rarely the target of vehicle manufacturers because of issues that come with age impacting driving.

At least one vehicle manufacturer recognizes the lack of accesibility in cars to allow elderly populations to use them safely, and wants to investigate ways to change that moving forward.
Process
Define
Aperio insights was contacted by a major vehicle manufacturer in order to design concepts for lengthening the average amount of time that users can safely operate motor vehicles.

Analyze
Initially, over two dozen potential users were interviewed in order to identify the priorities of the target population. The results of these interviews were used to determine how to best proceed.
Create
After the initial interview data was analyzed and used to design potential systems, a 100+ online group study was conducted to gain feedback on the designs. The designs that were presented received iterations and improvements using the new data.

Outcomes

Check-up designs
In order to determine the specific needs of an individual and how to help them keep driving for longer, it was determined that an assessment would need to be administered. Several designs and methods for these assessments were explored and trialed.
Possible products
When exploring the primary reasons that elderly populations might struggle to continue driving as they age, there were many that could be treated or minimized in order to extend ones time behind the wheel. I worked to identify products that would be worth utilizing post assessment to benefit users.

Concept storyboard
Because I was working under Aperio Insights and not the manufacturer, the final product of my work was a workshop design for Aperio to present to key stakeholders in order to explain the costs, benefits, and potential market for the concepts my team and I explored.
